Do you need your visitors to log in?

There may be several reasons why you may want your visitors to log into your web site:

• Pay for good or services
• Access restricted information. For example, online subscriptions
• Leave feedback on a particular article or write a review
• Manage their personal information
• Give access to your online help desk An online help desk allows you to track ongoing customer enquiries with tickets

The way you wish to manage these users is entirely flexible.

You may decide to have only a select few users permitted to use features on your site. Or, if you want to have your visitors register to use a particular feature then an automated sign-up facility can be available. This automation can be entirely automatic, or you can intercept the information received for your verification. This method is particularly useful for allowing large organisations to publish a form for its members to fill in. You may not want the information retrieved from the form to be publicly viewable until you verify its authenticity.
